About the Program
Theater is about so much more than singing, acting, and dancing- there really is something for everyone. Theatre education has been shown to not only help with social and communication skills, but has been linked to higher test scores and overall achievement as well as improved self esteem.
We hope to help each student find what makes them shine, and in turn find confidence and courage in all other aspects of their lives.
Acting Through Song
Oct 21 - Nov 18, 2024
Mondays, 4:00PM - 5:20PM
Musical theater is more than just singing and dancing; it’s acting through a song. By using material from Broadway and movie musicals, students will explore how to interpret a song, how to collaborate in small group numbers, and even how to act while dancing (or moving!). Students are asked to come prepared with one song that they would like to work on throughout the course.
Classes are Oct 21, 28, Nov 4, and 18. 4:00pm-5:20pm
$100
Movement for Musicals
Jan. 27 - Feb. 24, 2025
Mondays, 4:00PM - 5:20PM
You don't need to be a dancer to be a triple threat! In this course, students will learn basic steps that are often repeated in musical dance numbers, get an appreciation for choreography and different styles of theater dance, and learn a new dance each week to their favorite Broadway show tunes! No experience in dance is required. Sneakers or dance shoes are preferred for this course- no open-toed shoes or boots.
Classes are Jan 27, Feb 3, 10, and 24. 4:00-5:20pm
$100
