Volunteer
Whether you’re greeting patrons, helping with concessions, assisting backstage, supporting events, or lending a hand behind the scenes, your time directly impacts the experience of every person who walks through our doors. Volunteers help create the atmosphere that defines our theatre.
Volunteering here is also an opportunity to:
-
Connect with fellow artists and community members
-
Gain hands-on experience in live theatre
-
Support local arts and culture
-
Be part of a collaborative, creative process
-
Contribute to something meaningful in our community
At The Granite, we believe theatre thrives when community and collaboration come first. When you volunteer, you’re not just helping with a task — you’re helping bring stories to life and sustain a space where creativity belongs to everyone.
How You Can Help
Ushers
Ushers welcome patrons, assist with seating, distribute programs, and help ensure a positive audience experience. Ushers help create a welcoming and organized environment for everyone attending our performances.
Patron Check-In & Ticket Scanning
Volunteers assist with checking in patrons and scanning tickets before performances. This role helps ensure smooth entry into the theatre and supports efficient front-of-house operations.
Bartender & Concessions
Concessions volunteers assist with preparing and serving beverages and refreshments before performances and during intermission. This role helps enhance the patron experience and supports theatre operations. Must be 21+ and tip certified to serve alcohol.
Set Builder
Set Builders help construct scenic elements for productions. This may include assembling set pieces, moving materials, and assisting with load-in and strike under the guidance of the Director or Set Designer.
Set Painter
Set Painters assist with painting and finishing scenery to bring each production’s visual world to life. This role is ideal for those who enjoy hands-on creative work and contributing to the artistic process.
Props Master
The Props Master helps gather, organize, and maintain props used in each production. This may include sourcing items, preparing props for rehearsals and performances, and ensuring they are ready and in place when needed. This role requires organization, attention to detail, and collaboration with the production team.
Volunteers assist with Granite Theatre’s educational children’s programs by helping support instructors, students, and classroom activities. Responsibilities may include helping prepare materials, assisting with activities, supervising students, and ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
This role is ideal for those who enjoy working with children and supporting arts education. Educational Programs Assistants help create a positive and encouraging space where young performers can learn, grow, and develop confidence. Will need to adhere to a background check.
